So how did Nature Glow by Adi begin? It started as a challenge.
Here I am, a 4th grader wanted to buy gaming money. When I asked dad to buy gaming cash he said, “Why don’t you start a business so you can buy your own gaming stuff.”
I said, “Sure, but what business?”
He replied, “How about a candle business?”
I said, “Yeah let’s do a candle business.”
We started researching about how to make candles. There was a lot to learn. We needed to study about the wax. We first learned about paraffin wax. It was cheap and easy to find but the more we read, the more we learned how it’s bad for the environment. Next, we learned about soy wax. It was a little more expensive than paraffin wax, but it burned longer. It is more friendly for the environment, but many soy wax can come from farms that were made from deforestation. Finally, we researched beeswax. It is the most expensive wax, but it burns much longer than other waxes. It is a product of the honey industry. We were looking at the prices and found some beeswax were a lot cheaper, making us think it may not be real beeswax. We decided to look for beeswax locally, so we know it is real beeswax. This was just the beginning of journey to start a candle business. The challenge is just beginning.
