Top 5 Moments: Nature Glow’s Exciting First SF Market Day

First Farmers Market

We did our first farmers market on Sunday, June 23, 2024. The evening before, we packed our supplies and candles. Early the next morning, we packed our candles and supplies in the car and drove to the Outer Sunset Farmers Market. When we arrived at the site, we unloaded the car. Mom and I started to set up our site while Dad was parking the car. When Dad came back, he helped us set up the canopy. After we finished setting up everything, we waited until 9 a.m. when the farmers market opened.

We were nervous because this was our first farmers market, and we had never sold candles to the public. Now, we waited for customers. The morning started slow and steady. Most people didn’t arrive until around lunch. At lunch was when we started selling a lot of our candles. The first scent to sell out was Jasmine. Our blended scent candles of Eucalyptus, Menthol, and Lavender also sold out. Another popular scent was Rose. I thought Lavender would sell a bit more, but it didn’t. Vanilla and unscented didn’t sell well at all.

By the end of the farmers market, it exceeded my parents’ expectations but roughly met mine. When it was all over, we quickly packed up and left.

That day, we learned which scents were popular. Our next steps include making more of our popular scented candles. We will also melt some of the Vanilla candles and create new vanilla blends. Additionally, we will develop new scent blends.

Our next farmers market is on July 28th at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market. Nature Glow Candles hope to see you at our next farmers market!
